PSP Games, PSP Accessories, PSP News... we're the hub for all things PSP!
The God of War franchise has become a very well known entity in the gaming community. As such I figured it would be a good idea to through in my own two cents and provide a set of reviews for each game in the series starting in chronological order.
One of the most interesting things about Chains of Olympus for the Playstation Portable system is that it's a prequel that in both functionality and presentation. While the graphics and gameplay are easily cutting edge for the PSP, they still slightly pale in comparison to the original games which take place after it. As such it functions very nicely as a prequel and is as good as any place to start getting into the series.
Sound:
Chains of Olympus recycles many of the epic scores of the original game. These themes still set an excellent tone for the game and really contributes to the feeling that you are partaking in a classic Greek Epic. The only problem would be that if you've already played the other titles, the scores will seem somewhat tired. The game is one of the very few PSP titles to feature full voice acting. Most of the main cast returns to reprise the role of the main characters with the notable exception of Michael Clarke Duncan playing Atlas, it's Fred Tatasciore (probably most known as playing the Hulk in various animated marvel productions). Aside from that the game is a solid delivery in the sound department, and as such it easily ranks among the best in this category for the PSP.
Graphics:
God of War Chains of Olympus looks almost as good as the original Playstation 2 titles, which is pretty amazing, especially given that it features full voice acting and fully animated cut scenes, both rarities in the PSP library. As such it's easily a graphic juggernaut among PSP titles, and since it makes the original games look good, it's an excellent starting point for anybody who's looking to get into the series. Many of the high resolution scenes (specifically the various flashbacks) have actually been copied directly from the PS2 titles but others tend to use a combination of in-game graphics with two-dimensional renders which resemble the same dramatic ancient Greek styling used in the original God of War spliced together seamlessly. The regular in-game graphics feature all the splendid gore and fairly fluid animations that have become synonymous with the series in general. Many of the enemies will look a bit bland, but given the limitations of the system it doesn't come as a surprise.
Storyline:
Naturally there are some inherent limitations when making a prequel title. God of War I and II had already been released and this title takes place before either of them so the developers had to stay away from messing with the established storyline and also didn't want to step on anything that was planned for use in the third God of War title. That leaves them very little room to negotiate. The one element that was given specifically for use in this game was explaining how Kratos had first met Atlas, since the meeting that took place between the two of them in God of War II suggested that not only did they know each other, but it was Kratos that bound Atlas there. In this game, you finally get to find the answer to that question.
The story starts off as Kratos is sent to save the city of Attica from the invading Persian army who brought a mythical pet with them to do some major damage. After clearing out the threat, Kratos is astonished to see the sun plummet from the sky which releases the God of Nightmares, Morpheus, to slowly but surely take over the world as well as the Pantheon of Olympic Gods. What transpires is an epic quest to save the world and to force Kratos to face his own inner demons as well as to question his faith in the Gods.
And those who are new to the series fear not, because this prequel won't spoil the story in future installments for you at all. It's safe to play this title before the others. Despite being given only one piece of material and burdened with several restrictions, Chains of Olympus has a very solid story on it's own and is an excellent addition to the overall story arc.
Gameplay:
One of the parts fans were most concerned about prior to the release of this game was if the gameplay itself would remain faithfully intact. The PSP is naturally more limited then the PS2 controller so some design aspects were going to have to be compensated. Compounding this anxiety was the fact that a different company would be developing the game. Whereas Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) uses it's own Santa Monica Studio to program the original games as well as the then upcoming third, an exterior company called Ready At Dawn was tasked with programming Chains of Olympus. New programmers meant the increased chance of dramatic alteration to core gameplay, and fans were rightly worried.
However not only did Ready At Dawn prove faithful to adapting the system for the handheld PSP, they also remained extremely faithful to the core gameplay aspects of the titles. You would never be able to tell that the game wasn't designed by the same studio just by playing it. All of the classic God of War gameplay elements remained as the core of the system, and some new aspects were introduced to establish other features.
As with other God of War titles the core of the combat in the game is based of two sets of combos that can be unlocked and a handful of special moves. These combos and moves can be mixed along with being performed in the air to make for some really dynamic juggling combos. Enemies can also be grabbed (although some will block it until you stun them by hitting them enough) for brutal instant-kill attacks or sometimes to be tossed into other enemies. Sometimes grappling certain enemies when they are stunned will initiate a small set of quick time events that can not only brutally slay the monster but grant you specific orbs like those that replenish health or magic upon successful completion.
The quick-time-event system, also got within the titles Context Sensitive sequences, remain a common feature in this title of the series. Usually at the end of a boss fight or during specific events button prompts will appear on screen and require you to press them in time in order for Kratos to successfully perform a scripted action. These play out like interactive cut scenes that have been around since the days of Dragon's Lair, an arcade game produced by Sega many years ago. It's a system that allows for extremely dynamic and dramatic action sequences that are specific to the situation. Of course the downside to this is that you are so focused on hitting the button prompts correctly that you aren't really paying attention to what's going on.
The enemies in the game are the same commonplace mythical monsters that are involved in all the other God of War titles, and they function largely the same. If you've played the other titles previously, then get ready for more of the same. If this is the first God of War game that you've played, then make sure to pay special attention to the behaviors and attack patterns each enemies uses. The strategies you develop for taking them down will serve you well in the following installments.
God of War Chains of Olympus offers gamers a brand new set of mythological bosses for you to ram horns with. Each boss is unique when compared to the others and each one provides for an amazing encounter. Because the game is shorter, you won't come across as many bosses as you do in parts 2 or 3, but it's still plenty of fun to keep you occupied.
The game also introduces a new weapon to switch up gameplay style, the Gauntlet of Zeus. This legendary weapons was used to chain the Titans to Tartarus following the Great War. It provides a very unique fighting style complete with it's own special moves and combos and was a very impressive weapon. I was really hoping the gauntlet would return in God of War III perhaps to be able to use alongside the Blade of Olympus, another weapon crafted by Zeus for the Great War. Alas it was not to be, and this title is the only time you get to use it. Replacing the Golden Fleece that Kratos would not acquire until years later, the Shield of Helios facilitates the defensive combat systems that were implemented with the second God of War. You can use it to parry melee attacks and to deflect ranged attacks back to the source. It plays a major role in the story and it actually does return though only as a special effect item in God of War III.
All in all, Chains of Olympus is an excellent entry in the God of War series as is as great a starting point as the original game for those interested in getting into the series. It stands on it's own as an excellent game. The only downside would be that it plays a very small role in the overall series. There are only a handful of events in other titles that make minor references to the events that take place in Chains of Olympus, and the game itself does very little to connect with the rest of the series. You could easily enjoy the entire main story without buying this game, but it's still a great title to have and I highly recommend it to anybody who already enjoys the series, or who thinks they might be interested in it.

This was a great game. At first i had second thoughts about the game cuz i didnt think i wud like it. So i decided to take a chance and buy the game. Man was i impressed. the graphics, the gameplay, and control was flawless. Even though the game was hard, I really enjoyed the boss battles. The only problem i had with the game is that it was too short. I would get into the game and before i knew it the game was over. I recommend this game to anyone who likes the god of war series. Overall i give this game 5 stars.

Amazing story for a prequel! Although it is quite short, the game was really enjoyable on the PSP.

Probably the best game on the psp. The controls are good, graphics are pretty good, and the killing is excellent as always. Buy this game if you haven't already, especially at the price it is at now.

This is the best and beast game I ever saw on PSP. When I started to play it I did not stop until I finished it. The graphics is unbelieavable. It was the first game on PSP that I played so I thought that it was the hardware of the PSP to be so powerful but after I experimented different games not as beautiful as this, and I realized that it is this game that rises the Olympus of PSP.
It is a must.

I've been a gamer for a long long time. For decades I was a PC gamer, and I still am to an extent. My wonderful, beautiful, and thoughtful wife gave me a PSP last year for my birthday. Never having used or played any of the consoles, I was unfamiliar with the controls, but I liked the idea of the portability of the PSP. I played the two Tomb Raider games that are available, and enjoyed them enough. I also played Indiana Jones - Staff of Kings, and liked that as well. But after that I found myself starving for something to play, and raided my sons room on a clean up spree. He had Untold Legends, so I played it. I loved that game a lot, it was right up my alley, and nice and long so it took forever to play through. Upon completing that game twice, once as a knight and once as a druid, I again found myself starving for something good to play. So I started some research, and came across God of War with all of its outstanding reviews. As long as the character control was totally analog stick I was good to go.
I have just completed my first run through this great game. WOW, the only thing I can say is that all of the positive reviews were dead on. Outstanding graphics, breathtaking panoramas, perfect art work, superb music score, outstanding sound affects, and absolutely perfect character control and camera angles & control. The folks at Edios should take a lesson on the character control and camera angles & control from these developers. I'm not going to go into great detail here as there is already enough of that on the net. I'm just going to say that I've not had more enjoyment out of playing a game before, and it deserves to be said so all can see. I was taken in by all of the sensual goodies built perfectly into this game. The scenes, artwork, sounds, play action, all just fit together so perfectly. Game play was challenging, yet forgiving where it needed to be. The designers didn't decide to play games and make already difficult areas and actions that much harder with bad controls, and camera angles. If your not familiar with these type of console controls, play on Easy mode first and get used to them. I'm still rusty and found myself hitting incorrect buttons during most of the mini-games. I will improve with time. The only real challenge for me was the final boss fight. Naturally its supposed to be tough, but my inability to work the controls well played against me for a while. Eventually, I got it, obviously, and was able to beat the game. One thing that I absolutely LOVED about this game besides the outstanding character control, and camera angles was the fact that if you died during a difficult part, instead of taking you back to the last save point, it took you back to your last checkpoint during that event. So for example, if you were doing the last boss fight and got to the point like I did where your half way through and died, when you restarted, you were at the beginning of that particular part of the boss battle, you didn't have to go back and start from the beginning. An excellent way to design the game. Thank You!
Of course the game has more playability as once you beat it on any of the lower difficulty levels, you unlock God mode and that gives you three more levels again to play, plus you start unlocking challenges which are sort of mini-levels. I cannot wait to get back into the fray on the next levels and see how I do.

I play PC games. Console games generally do not interest me. I tried this on a whim and WOW! it is actually fun. Interesting. challenging. If I owned an up to date console I would buy the other God of War games if they are this good.

I have never played any game in the God of War series before Chains of Olympus and let me tell you, I am hooked! Before I get to how great this game is I will briefly state its one flaw. As many other reviewers have stated, the game is far too short. I beat the game in under 3 days probably in about 8 hours of game play. The reason this is a flaw is because the game is so good that you don't want to ever stop playing!!
The controls are responsive and easy to understand. The graphics - simply the best I have seen as of yet on PSP (I am about to buy Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines which, I have been told, also has amazing graphics). The camera angles in God of War are smart and travel well through each scene. I did not find any glitches in the angles or the game itself. Also the soundtrack is excellent. The music can get your heart racing and peaks at the appropriate times. As for the gameplay, it is pure fun from beginning to end. The creators do a great job of mixing fighting with puzzles that are not overly complicated but require some thought. I did not find the puzzles to slow down gameplay too much, just enough in my opinion.
If you are a PSP owner, you need this game. It may be a quick play but you'll enjoy every minute of it. Absolutely worth the $15 pricetag on Amazon. The game is so good that I am seriously considering getting a PS3 when God of War III comes out later this year! Buy it and you won't be sorry.

Excellent game especially for the price! This is by far my fav. action/adventure game on the PSP.

This is one of the best fighting/action Playstation 2 games. I'd highly recommend it!

I've never played GOW or GOW2 before so I'm a newbie to this game. Due to the high ratings people gave I decided to give it a try. It's the best game I've ever played on psp. If you own a psp and you're old enough to play this game, you need to play it, otherwise you don't know what you've missed.
The graphic's amazing. The game control is the best I've experienced on psp. The game designer made so many different combos for attacks and magic with the available keys on psp. There are four different difficulty levels so it will be fun and challenging for everyone. And you will also learn some neat stuff from Greek mythology.
In conclusion, this is an epic game.

No issues with the game itself. I gave the download code to my partner as a gift to upload to the PSPgo, but the device wouldn't allow him to play it at first. After several tries, it finally worked.

a good game, recommended for over 18 years,
I recommend that parents should not buy this game to their children under 13 years.

if you have played the previous god of war games, this is not one you should miss. there are a couple things missing, like a lack of magic abilities and you will be using your blades of chaos alot, but overall the gameplay and story that god of war is so well known for will keep you entertained. the story is a prequel to the first god of war, and there is lots of bloody goodness to be had. the controls are take care of quite well. Rolling is hard to get used to, but once you get the feel for the controls, you will be rolling around just as easily as if you had the control stick. Definitely get it if you can find a used copy or if you rent games, and consider buying it new for a good price.

There's little to write about this game. It stands up to the enjoyment of the console versions in every way. If you like the series, this is a must buy and the only way to enjoy Kratos on the go

It's God of War, and it's PSP. It ROCKS.
Perfect PSP game, instant action, you can play it in short bits or be drawn in for an hour at a time.
Great game.

This game is overall a great game. The controlls are simple, graphics are great, and replayability is there. The only Thing I find wrong with this game is the story is very short. I litlerly beat the game in 4 days. And I am not saying I played it all day, I mean a few hours here and ther for 4 days and I beat. So dont expect this to be FF 12 long.

This is one of the best games for the console (PSP) NO DOUBT. Fun, challenging, new stuff.

This game proves the great graphical ability of PSP Console. It has a fascinating story. Especially God of War fans from PS2 should get this game, in order to understand Kratos's past story.

First of all I got this game for free with my PSP 3000 purchase, had that not been the case I wouldn't have ended up getting this game and would have missed out on a good play.
To break it down briefly, this game is very much the GoW we have grown accustomed too (if you have played the others). Its brutal, fast paced brawler/hack and slash action. That being said, it is a very fun game to play. My only real complaint about the game is the lack of boss fights. One of the reasons I loved the other two GoW games were the awesome cinematic boss battles. And this is actually something the GoW franchise is famous for. In that regard this game doesn't really deliver. There were 2 maybe 3 boss fights total in the game.
If you liked the other GoW games I do suggest buying this title because it is a really well polished handheld title. After you complete the campaign (about 6 hours) you can play through again on God mode difficulty for unlockables, as well as the game features some pretty challenging challenges that are available once you beat the campaign.
Great title, could be a little better, but the best hand held I've played hands down.

God of War redefined action games with its first installment. Now its a series three games strong with a fourth on the way. This infamous franchise is a genre bending marriage of hack'n slash, platforming, puzzle solving, exploration, surprisingly enough a plot and the most memorable aspect, Kratos, the main character. Long winded introductions aside, the PSP entry, Chains of Olympus, marks another excellent installment in Kratos' log book.
The game plays and just about looks like a proper sequel to the first game and prequel to the second. Everything here should be expected, as the finer mechancis are the same. New and exclusive to this romp are a gauntlet weapon, enemies, locales, magic and story.
Lengthwise, this is the shortest game taking les than six hours or so to finish. There are multiple difficulties, costumes and challenges, all the usual schtick.
Regardless, if you're a God of War fan you won't be disappointed as the game is solid and includes some very personal moments for Kratos that shed more light into his hatred for the gods.
You want to play this.

To be honest I have been a bit disappointed with games on the PSP. I've tried several and found the controls cumbersome and clumsy. I actually recently purchased my PSP more for its multi-media functions and Wi-Fi Capabilities. I have been a huge GoW fan since the 1st game on PS2 and was very skeptical about playing it on the PSP; I however I could not resist the call of Kratos. Sony did not disappoint. Playing Chains of Olympus on the PSP so much like playing GoW on the PS2, I fear for my "O" button. The graphics are simply amazing for the PSP. I find the only noticeable difference is the smaller screen. The environments are just as rich and the action just as intense. I have fought about 2 bosses so far and look forward to losing many hours delivering the message of the gods with wraith of my blades.

I would highly recommend this title to any one who enjoys action games, the makers have really pushed the psp with great visuals, sound and some top set pieces everything about the game is of a high quality.
With most games their is always flaws and this has a couple but mostly to do with the psp controls, the nub can be tricky to use and due to this can result in some unfair energy losses but in truth doesn't come in to play that much to distract from an otherwise great game.
This is a great addition to the excellent PS2 games and I would strongly advise anyone to give it a try you wont be disappointed.

If your like me and fussy about the things you buy then be warned that ordering God of War: Chains of Olympus from Find Price you will receive the Platinum Edition. I ordered here thinking it wasn't Platimum Ediion as I hate the case style as do I on the PS2 and PS3. It's not a big deal really but I am fussy. All my games are now lined up on my shelf and the Platinum God of War sticks out a mile. Only good thing about ordering from here is it's about a quid cheaper and very fast delivery and comes factory sealed new.
This game would receive 5 stars but not being able to change the controls from the thumb stick to the D pad is frustrating for me as I do not find it comfortable whilst playing. Other than that then it's a great PSP game and a bargain at this price and not to be missed.

At the time of writing Chains of Olympus is the highest ranking PSP title on metacritic (the review comparison site) and is being named as 'game of the year' by all of the major PSP media outles. Despite having never played either of the God of War PS2 games I came to this with high expectations. And, how can I put this delicately?
THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!
It baffles me how this game managed to pick up so many accolades and it's led me to cynically conclude that it had more to do with Sony's marketing muscle then journalistic integrity.
I have two main problems with it: the bugs and the fighting mechanic.
Bugs: unless you are stood on the EXACT pixel that the game requires you cannot carry out certain functions like opening chests, doors, etc. This problem crops up every few minutes and really frustrated me.
The camera is pretty naff and frustrating, what's needed is a button to centre it behind the character when necessary (remember when that was the standard for 3rd person perspective 3D game? You know, 10 years ago on the N64).
The PSP analog nub isn't accurate enough for the moments when Chains of Olympus suddenly becomes a rhythm game (see below). My heart sank whenever I saw the 'swivel nub clock wise' icon, knowing I would be suck at these points in the game for some time until I could randomly get it right (and it's not my PSP that's faulty).
The fighting mechanic. I was aware that the God of War series is famed for it's epic boss battles. What I didn't know was that each boss battle starts out as a feisty button masher but always ends up as Dance Dance Revolution (or insert the rhyme game of your choice. How about Guitaroo man as it's the PSP, or let's go old skool and compare it to Parappa the Rappa?). Who in their right mind thinks it's fun to finish a simulated bout of hand to hand combat by following on screen prompts to press buttons at exactly the right time in order to trigger cut scenes of action which the player has no control over. In the 80's we had a name for this type of thing: Dragons Lair. And it is a name to be feared by gamers everywhere!
The puzzles and the regular fighting are good enough. But I just can't recommend this game to anybody, it's glitchy and the very moments that should take your breathe away are made wholly unsatisfying by the terrible 'rhythm' game aspects.

This game is incredible.
Its my first experience with the God of War franchise, and what a stunner it is. If you've played one of the others you'll be happy to play this, if you haven't, you're in for a ride.
This is easily the best game I have played in a good few years. The storyline is brilliant, mixing myth and legend with modern ideas and pulling it off is a rarety, but its done here and then some.
There are standard and special attacks, all of which are easy to pull off, and easy to remember, despite there being a fair number of them.
The ease of gameplay is something I found particularly refreshing. Kratos is relentless in this title and the feeling is more than portrayed to you as you wont be able to put it down. There are a few little puzzles, but nothing taxing, and it all helps to break up slaughtering people with a little thinking that after two minutes will have you well on your way again. There is also a touch of strategy in this game when it comes to enemies as some are a little too clever for your basic attacks, but specials come with the price of reduced health and reduced magic, and knowing when to us them can really help you out later on.
There is enough difference in this action-packed chop'em-up to prevent it becoming repetitive and continually upgrading and changing enemies help that too.
My only, and I do mean only, complaint, is that I felt it finished too soon and suddenly, but I can't work out if thats because it really did, or because I played it so much I finished it in a few days and wanted more.
Needless to say, I started it again.
Go buy it, you wont regret it.

Bought this game for my boyfriend a few days ago & he hasn't put it down since! Also had a little go myself, graphics are great and the storyline and game itself I can't fault. The only negative we found was that the save points at times seemed to take forever to reach which is a bit annoying when you want to finish up as we had to keep playing ages before we had chance to save. Also some of the puzzles involved in opening doors are a little challenging but I suppose that's better tha them being too easy. Overall would reccomend as a good game.

Well i thought i would never buy and play a game such as this but its awesome .The graphics are the best i have seen so far on the psp, they look alot like xbox 360 graphics. The storyline is superb. While you are playing and getting through the game you get alot of commentery about the game and the hero himself, your not just left to guess alot of it which alot of games i have played tend to. Alot of people i have seen reviewing are saying the game itself is too short,I had so much fun playing this game i couldnt of cared less how long or short it was! So if you want a long game to play this isnt the game for you! The variety of moves which you are able to pick up as you play is impressive esp where its on a handheld console. You have 4 different levels of experitise you can play, this is great esp for people like me who need to start on easy mode and then work my way up! The game consists of alot of puzzles which you have to solve to move on in the game, some of them are a little frustrating but after a while you can work them out. Overall this is a 5 star game and has dealt what it promised!!
Source: [amazon.co.uk]
This is the thing I bought this game via the previous one and the storyline is so boring and is utter rubbish and I completed the entire game within 12 HOURS thats right. It's so short and easy, it's amazing to play don't get me wrong but it's not worth paying for it if your getting a couple hours of exitment. The graphics are average and you get new abilites and one new weapon - Slow but Powerful - The only troubling thing was the Underworld when you have to jump over the massive gaps and you keep dying so Hint* Go well far baack and sprint to the point where you jump ( It took me 2 hours to get past one part ) and the boss is so easy and again the ending of the storyline is terrible

ive played both on the ps2 and i got this two days ago for my new psp3000 and was amazed by how much it looks and feels like i was playing it on a ps2. its pure gow with puzzles and power ups and gore graphics are excellent for a portable console,. its got a good story but no ares so you dont hear him shout ARREESSSSS!!! PICK THIS GAME UP CHEAP THOUGH AS I DID FINISH IT IN A DAY but i had an amazing experience doing so fingers crossed they bring out another cause i really enjoyed it. psp has some camera issues on some games but on gow it controls the camera for you (nice) makes a big difference not having to use the d-pad for the camera made me enjoy it more 4/5 cause while its over all to soon its amazing to play and thats what games are about fun fun fun

i agree with another reviewer who said that this game = tomb raider + tekken + greek mythology,
it is definitely the best psp game.
the graphics is superb and exploits all the power of the psp.
the gameplay is perfect.
there are frenetic actions with battles and fights, followed up by scenes in which you must think to find an escape route.
I wait future versions of this game

Brilliant graphics, good storyline, loved the monsters, lots of unlockables, and mini games. The only thing is that it was too short, I completed it in abouit 6 hours. But well worth it. Would recommend it to anyone. Callum Maxwell (age 10)

I am not exactly what you might class as a gamer, having bought my PSP to watch video's et al on the train when I was travelling home on a daily London commute. In a moment of madness I purchased this game and apart from a somewhat child like (it is a game) storyline, I have found it incredibly good. The graphics are smooth and very detailed and unlike true gamers, I found it a real challenge to complete.
Is it good, well if you want the opinion of 1 53 year old who normally the greatest game challenge is how to avoid countdown, this is the dogs - even the sound track is compelling. I doubt if I would buy a sequel, or even another game like this, but it has been tremendous fun and I can only recommend it.

Fans of Kratos will not be disappointed, since look and feel are exactly the same on PS2 and PSP. Scenery, artwork and music are beautiful, diversity of quests and moves are good.
My only and great comment is on the length of the game: in normal modus I finished the game in under 5 hours. So maybe for experienced God of War players the game is nog challenging enough. For newbies: buy this game, and you will be overwhelmed!

Good game this, not the best game ever but a decent story line and some good combo's make for a decent action game.
No real puzzles to get the grey matter going, no character development (outside of combo's etc) or freeplay, but if you are looking for an absorbing and all action game, there are few better than this.

Although a little short and a tiny bit frustrating (q.t.e event button notice switching from l/r tapping to analog for example) this game is well worth investing for newbies and g.o.w fans alike.
i had not played the ps2 incarnations but have purchased them on the strength of this amazing title.
a breath of fresh air for the psp which is becoming mired at the moment with crap games or rehashes - god of war is beautifully presented in any way you look at it and im hoping we see more.

I don't usually play this genre and have hardly ever had the ability or motivation to complete one to the end. However, God of War blew me away! Initially seduced by the top-notch screen shots I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed by the graphics or the sound, and once I got used to the controls I just kept playing. As the game progresses it gets increasingly challenging, but importantly, not so much that you get frustrated; and eventually a bit of practice will see you through to the next stage. I've just completed the game and am now contemplating trying again at a higher skill level.

I bought this game on the day of it's release expecting to be totally wowed. I'd read all the reviews in the mags "The most important game to be released on the psp" one said!
Granted the story is good. There were wry and witty moments (the two lesbian prisoners were very humourously done). Then all of a sudden the game was over.
What had I missed? had I gone past several levels somehow? I played it again just to see. No! That was it! Over in a jiffy.
Yes the film scenes are entertaining. Yes there was an engaging plot.
Yes the controls were mapped well ............ but I was still left thinking ........... was that it?
One review said that the bar had been raised. Graphically, it probably has but for longevity I get more out of Bomberman and Galaxian than I do this. At least the likes of Monster Hunter keep you engaged for months while you build up characters and their equipment. (No I'm not one of those who cheat their way through games.)
Entertaining and fun but if all PSP games become this short then I'm swapping my PSP for something else. No, not the crappy DS!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent game for the PSP and if you have a PSP, are over 18, and like this sort of game, get it! I won't go into the story as it has been said a lot here, but it ties up the issues with the Titans, and adds a bit more information of Kratos' past. As many have said, it is short, but sweet. I get a 10-15 minute play on this on my tube journey to work, and some people close their dull newspapers to watch. The graphics run close to the PS2, and the sound and music are top notch. Less puzzles, but more fights are what this game is about. Its is rated 18, so it is not for the young or those that cringe at the sight of blood. Recommended.

i absolutely adored this game it is easily much favourite game on any hand held console ever. The control system works brilliantly, the camera angles are never a problem(in fact they make the game very cinematic in areas) and the graphics are some of the best ive seen on the psp so far. However this game is a bit sort i completed it in 4 hrs and 50 mins on normal difficulty the day after i bought it. Also i didn't find normal difficult in the slightest, only dieing once or twice through out the whole game and i am new to god of war! that said this game does have suprisingly good replay value i am already half way through hard mode and also there are sort of mini games to play aswell. overall this is a brilliant game well worth £20 dont let the length put u off i promise u ull complete at least twice + all the mini games before getting bored of it.
